Chiddushei HaRambam, a commentary on Tractate Rosh Hashanah of the Babylonian Talmud, was discovered among other manuscripts in the 19th century. Scholars have debated the attribution to Maimonides, in part because of apparent contradictions between this commentary and Maimonides’ other works. Among others, the publisher’s preface (1868) argues for the commentary’s authenticity as a Maimonidean composition and for its significance as evidence that Maimonides indeed supported study of Talmud and not just of his own works.
