Pirkei DeRabbi Eliezer (Chapters of Rabbi Eliezer) is a midrash that retells and expands upon the biblical narrative, from the beginning of the Book of Genesis through the story of Miriam’s leprosy in the Book of Numbers. It includes topics such as ethics, ancient Jewish customs and legends, and calculations regarding both creation and the end of days. Traditionally ascribed to Rabbi Eliezer ben Hyrcanus, a 2nd-century sage, the work was likely edited in the eighth or ninth century.
