About This Text
Author: Aaron HaLevi Horowitz
Sha’arei Avodah, also called Avodat HaBeinonim, is an early-19th century work by Rabbi Aaron HaLevi Horowitz. Its five sections discuss the unity of God, union of the souls, divine service, commandments, and repentance. Like Horowitz’s other writings, the work is based on the oral lessons of his teacher and founder of the Chabad Chasidic movement, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, and on Shneur Zalman’s seminal work, the Tanya. Although Horowitz split from the Chabad Lubavitch movement, his works remain a respected source for understanding Lurianic Kabbalah through the lens of the Tanya.
