About This Text
Author: Zev Wolf Rabinowitz
Sha’arei Torat Eretz Yisrael is a commentary on the Jerusalem Talmud that was written around the time of World War I by Lithuanian Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf Rabinowitz. The author writes in his introduction that he had studied the Jerusalem Talmud from his youth and found that existing commentaries were not satisfactory, in part because their authors were influenced by approaches of the more widely studied Babylonian Talmud. The work was published posthumously by the author’s son, Yitzchak Rabinowitz, who dedicated it to his mother’s memory.
