Sיulchan shel Arba (“Table of Four,” a title which the author chose for four reasons that he details in the introduction) is a 14th-century handbook meant to be studied at meals, written by the preacher, Torah commentator, and kabbalist Rabbenu Bachya ben Asher. It consists of four chapters; the first discusses the laws pertaining to meals, like handwashing and blessings on food, the second and third describe proper spiritual intentions and ethical rules of conduct during mealtime, and the fourth describes the banquet of the righteous that will take place in the Messianic era.
