About This Text
Author: Akiva Eiger
Composed: 1832 – 1834 CE
Teshuvot Rabbi Akiva Eiger is a collection of responsa by Rabbi Akiva Eiger, a prominent rabbinic leader of European Jewry during the late-18th and early 19th centuries, answering questions he received from communities throughout Europe. The first edition of responsa was published in 1835, during Eiger’s lifetime. Eiger wrote detailed instructions about how he wanted the work printed, including directions about the ink and paper used. Subsequent editions include additional responsa by Eiger that are not included in the original printing.
