About This Text
Author: Rabbenu Asher ben Yechiel (Rosh)
Tosefot HaRosh is a 14th-century commentary by Rabbi Asher ben Yechiel, known as the Rosh, based in large part on earlier collections of tosafist commentary compiled in France and Germany. Rabbi Asher’s Talmud commentary and his collection of tosafot were mainly studied in Spain. Tosefot Rosh gave Spanish scholars access to the tosafist tradition for many centuries until other editions of Tosafot became more universally accessible.
