תנו רבנן בשעה שהפיל נבוכדנצר הרשע את חנניה מישאל ועזריה לכבשן האש אמר לו הקב"ה ליחזקאל לך והחייה מתים בבקעת דורא כיון שהחייה אותן באו עצמות וטפחו לו לאותו רשע על פניו אמר מה טיבן של אלו אמרו לו חבריהן של אלו מחיה מתים בבקעת דורא

פתח ואמר (דניאל ג, לג) אתוהי כמה רברבין ותמהוהי כמה תקיפין מלכותיה מלכות עלם ושלטניה עם דר ודר וגו'

§ The Sages taught in a baraita: At the moment that Nebuchadnezzar the wicked cast Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah into the fiery furnace, the Holy One, Blessed be He, said to Ezekiel: Go and revive the dead in the Dura Valley. Once Ezekiel revived them, the bones came and struck Nebuchadnezzar, that wicked man, in his face. Nebuchadnezzar said: What is the nature of these? His servants said to him: The friend of these three, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, is reviving the dead in the Dura Valley. Nebuchadnezzar began and said: “How great are His signs and how mighty are His wonders; His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and His dominion is from generation to generation” (Daniel 3:33). Rabbi Yitzḥak says: Molten gold should be poured into the mouth of that wicked person. His mouth should be sealed in the course of an extraordinary death; in deference to royalty, Rabbi Yitzḥak suggested that gold would be used to accomplish that task. The reason is that if an angel had not come and struck him on his mouth to prevent him from continuing his praise, he would have sought to overshadow all the songs and praises that David recited in the book of Psalms. The Sages taught in a baraita: Six miracles were performed on that day that Hananiah, Mishael, and Azarya were delivered from the furnace, and they are: The furnace rose from where it was sunken to ground level; and the furnace was breached; and its limestone dissipated; and the graven image that Nebuchadnezzar established, which he commanded his subjects to worship (see Daniel 3:5–6), fell on its face; and four ranks of officials from monarchies, who stood around the furnace, were burned; and Ezekiel revived the dead in the Dura Valley.

(מז) עָנֵה֩ מַלְכָּ֨א לְדָנִיֵּ֜אל וְאָמַ֗ר

מִן־קְשֹׁט֙

דִּ֣י אֱלָהֲכ֗וֹן ה֣וּא אֱלָ֧הּ אֱלָהִ֛ין

וּמָרֵ֥א מַלְכִ֖ין

וְגָלֵ֣ה רָזִ֑ין

דִּ֣י יְכֵ֔לְתָּ לְמִגְלֵ֖א רָזָ֥א דְנָֽה׃

(47) The king said in reply to Daniel, “Truly your God must be the God of gods and Lord of kings and the revealer of mysteries to have enabled you to reveal this mystery.”

(כח) עָנֵ֨ה נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר וְאָמַ֗ר

בְּרִ֤יךְ אֱלָהֲהוֹן֙ דִּֽי־שַׁדְרַ֤ךְ מֵישַׁךְ֙ וַעֲבֵ֣ד נְג֔וֹ

דִּֽי־שְׁלַ֤ח מַלְאֲכֵהּ֙

וְשֵׁיזִ֣ב לְעַבְד֔וֹהִי דִּ֥י הִתְרְחִ֖צוּ עֲל֑וֹהִי

וּמִלַּ֤ת מַלְכָּא֙ שַׁנִּ֔יו

וִיהַ֣בוּ (גשמיהון) [גֶשְׁמְה֗וֹן]

דִּ֠י לָֽא־יִפְלְח֤וּן וְלָֽא־יִסְגְּדוּן֙

לְכׇל־אֱלָ֔הּ לָהֵ֖ן לֵאלָֽהֲהֽוֹן׃

(28) Nebuchadnezzar spoke up and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who sent His angel to save His servants who, trusting in Him, flouted the king’s decree at the risk of their lives rather than serve or worship any god but their own God.

(לב) אָֽתַיָּא֙ וְתִמְהַיָּ֔א

דִּ֚י עֲבַ֣ד עִמִּ֔י אֱלָהָ֖א (עליא) [עִלָּאָ֑ה]

שְׁפַ֥ר קׇֽדָמַ֖י לְהַחֲוָיָֽה׃

(לג)

אָת֙וֹהִי֙ כְּמָ֣ה רַבְרְבִ֔ין

וְתִמְה֖וֹהִי כְּמָ֣ה תַקִּיפִ֑ין

מַלְכוּתֵהּ֙ מַלְכ֣וּת עָלַ֔ם

וְשׇׁלְטָנֵ֖הּ עִם־דָּ֥ר וְדָֽר׃

(32) The signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me I am pleased to relate. (33) How great are His signs; how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion endures throughout the generations.”

(לא) וְלִקְצָ֣ת יֽוֹמַיָּא֩ אֲנָ֨ה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר

עַיְנַ֣י ׀ לִשְׁמַיָּ֣א נִטְלֵ֗ת

וּמַנְדְּעִי֙ עֲלַ֣י יְת֔וּב

(ולעליא) [וּלְעִלָּאָה֙] בָּרְכֵ֔ת

וּלְחַ֥י עָלְמָ֖א שַׁבְּחֵ֣ת וְהַדְּרֵ֑ת

דִּ֤י שׇׁלְטָנֵהּ֙ שׇׁלְטָ֣ן עָלַ֔ם

וּמַלְכוּתֵ֖הּ עִם־דָּ֥ר וְדָֽר׃

(לב) וְכׇל־[דָּיְרֵ֤י] (דארי) אַרְעָא֙ כְּלָ֣ה חֲשִׁיבִ֔ין

וּֽכְמִצְבְּיֵ֗הּ עָבֵד֙ בְּחֵ֣יל שְׁמַיָּ֔א (ודארי) [וְדָיְרֵ֖י] אַרְעָ֑א

וְלָ֤א אִיתַי֙ דִּֽי־יְמַחֵ֣א בִידֵ֔הּ

וְיֵ֥אמַר לֵ֖הּ מָ֥ה עֲבַֽדְתְּ׃

(לג) בֵּהּ־זִמְנָ֞א מַנְדְּעִ֣י ׀ יְת֣וּב עֲלַ֗י וְלִיקַ֨ר מַלְכוּתִ֜י הַדְרִ֤י וְזִיוִי֙ יְת֣וּב עֲלַ֔י וְלִ֕י הַדָּֽבְרַ֥י וְרַבְרְבָנַ֖י יְבַע֑וֹן וְעַל־מַלְכוּתִ֣י הׇתְקְנַ֔ת וּרְב֥וּ יַתִּירָ֖ה ה֥וּסְפַת לִֽי׃

(לד) כְּעַ֞ן אֲנָ֣ה נְבֻכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר

מְשַׁבַּ֨ח וּמְרוֹמֵ֤ם וּמְהַדַּר֙

לְמֶ֣לֶךְ שְׁמַיָּ֔א

דִּ֤י כׇל־מַעֲבָד֙וֹהִי֙ קְשֹׁ֔ט

וְאֹרְחָתֵ֖הּ דִּ֑ין

וְדִי֙ מַהְלְכִ֣ין בְּגֵוָ֔ה יָכִ֖ל לְהַשְׁפָּלָֽה׃ {פ}

(31) “When the time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason was restored to me. I blessed the Most High, and praised and glorified the Ever-Living One,
Whose dominion is an everlasting dominion
And whose kingdom endures throughout the generations.
(32) All the inhabitants of the earth are of no account.
He does as He wishes with the host of heaven,
And with the inhabitants of the earth.
There is none to stay His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’
(33) There and then my reason was restored to me, and my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom. My companions and nobles sought me out, and I was reestablished over my kingdom, and added greatness was given me. (34) So now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and glorify the King of Heaven, all of whose works are just and whose ways are right, and who is able to humble those who behave arrogantly.”
