For they prostrate themselves to vanity and nothingness, and pray to a god that cannot deliver.
The dikduk of the word וּמִתְפַּלְּ֒לִים is reflexive. The meforshim say the reason it is reflexive is because when we daven we are really doing an internal work of gauging our connection to Hashem. ()
