As we turn to Shavuot 2024, to study and celebrate, we think of the 249+ days of War Against Hamas in Gaza, the fallen IDF soldiers and the urgent hopes for the return of all of the hostages.

One way of remembering our IDF soldiers and the hostages and their families, as well as our hopes for all Am Yisrael, is by dedicating this 2024 Shavuot learning to them.

I encourage this by recalling the fallen IDF's heroic combat officer who led Operation Arnon, the hostage rescue mission, Arnon Zamorah, and by so dedicating my 2024 Shavuot study of Robert Alter's translations, essays, books and lectures concerning the Bible, Tanach and Am Yisrael's life as a nation.]
